Our Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Architecture will lead the overall direction of a world-class technical architecture competency recognized for creating business value by enabling business leaders to make informed technology decisions aligned with enterprise technology strategy. This includes providing architectural thought leadership and direction, being the strategic spokesperson to the architecture organization, articulating the value proposition of enterprise architecture, overseeing applied architecture and contributing to architectural governance.

| Responsibilities: |
• Architecture Leadership: Provide leadership in developing and managing a high impact architecture competency focused on delivering business value while effectively communicating the enterprise architecture vision and value proposition. Ensure The Standard remains aware of technology best-practices, trends and opportunities to enable innovation, operational efficiency and strategic agility. Maximize IT effectiveness by developing and managing a practical architectural governance function to align projects with common conventions and standards. Ensure business constituent communications and expectations are well managed. Provide leadership and direction to architecture professionals within the enterprise architecture organization including staff development, performance management, recruiting and skill demand forecasting in support of the business and IT objectives. Forecast demand of strategic and applied architecture to incubate a proactive environment.
• Manage Strategic Architecture: Create business/technology alignment for the risk and asset management businesses by defining a strategic direction and migration roadmap. Perform gap analysis between current state architecture and future state objectives. Outline architectural road map to sequence and coordinate transitional states to business and technology objectives. Understand and articulate a point of view on prospective roles for emerging technologies.
• Manage Applied Architecture: Develop a high performance solutions focused architecture team responsible for supporting business sponsored projects. Develop a team of knowledge leaders with technology domain expertise in the areas of data, application, content management, workflow, business rules, security and other core technologies. Collaborate with IT leadership to ensure continuity between the architecture, technology management, engineering and development activities. Oversee the materialization of strategic objectives and concepts into a tangible applied architectural structure.

| Qualifications: |
Demonstrated skills: The ideal candidate will posses demonstrated knowledge of the insurance industry, or a similar risk management business, and current trends. Additionally, this person will have strong customer relationship management and senior management leadership in IT budgeting and cost evaluation, strategic planning, negotiation and communication, and use of delivery based metrics. The Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Architecture is viewed as a role model in building high performance teams and work environments that demonstrate: integrity, customer orientation, results orientation, problem solving & decision making and active communication.
Ability to: Implement technology enabled business change in a complex business environment. Exhibit excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills as well as written and verbal communication skills. Communicate architecture value proposition to business and technology constituents. Provide management and thought leadership.
Working knowledge of: Understand the risk based business and the value chain as well as proficiency in various technical architectural disciplines including: software development lifecycle, service oriented architecture, object-oriented and component based technologies, multi-tier distributed component based technologies, legacy infrastructure platforms and integration techniques, current and emerging integration tools and frameworks as well as information and data modeling tools and techniques.
Advanced knowledge of: Superior knowledge and skills related to: business and systems architecture, software frameworks and methodologies as well as relevant business and technology architectural disciplines. Expert skills in strategic planning, security and controls
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems. MBA or insurance designation(s) is preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of professional technology leadership experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
