This position is responsible for developing and leading sourcing strategies as part of the Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) team. This involves working directly with executive business partners to develop sourcing and supplier management strategies that facilitate proper supplier selection, facilitate effective negotiations, deliver continuous value to the business, and enhance performance improvement across strategic categories. Leads the negotiation and contracting process of high value, complex and critical agreements.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Source to Pay (S2P) activities and managing indirect spend categories, with a deep understanding of operational processes, technologies, common business challenges, and the ability to translate them into solutions.  Primary interfaces with be with major stakeholders in Employee Benefits (EB), Individual Disability Insurance (IDI), and Retirement Planning (RP) along with other support organizations, like Legal & Compliance, Human Resources and Information Technology. You must be an absolute self-starter with strong project management skills and possess the ability to effectively manage multiple demands of your time and resources to deliver exceptional results to the business.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively develop and manage positive relationships with customers, suppliers, stakeholders, peers, and business partners; must be able to balance, influence and align internal customer needs with corporate business goals (10%)
  • Execute category strategies and manage the entire procurement process resulting in the best possible terms for value, quality, service and delivery (10%)
  • Create consistency in supplier evaluation, negotiations and SLAs with supplier solutions and services rendered. This position is in charge of supplier metrics, performance metrics, diverse supplier (M/WBE) development, cost savings evaluations and contract negotiations (10%)
  • Meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships and gain their trust and respect, i.e. a “trusted advisor.” (10%)
  • Act as a consultant to business partners in the supplier sourcing process, communicating approach for vendor agreement negotiations and/or ongoing projects (10%)
  • Partner with internal organizations to: define moderate to complex product / service requirements; assist with identifying qualified suppliers; run RFx events and evaluations; provide supplier evaluation framework; and make recommendations on supplier selection (10%)
  • Develop commercial engagements within the procurement lifecycle including supplier selection, negotiation planning, contract negotiations, and executing agreements. Draft and redline commercial components of master purchasing and service contracts, statements of work, and non-disclosure agreements (10%)
  • Assist with risk analysis to identify issues (financial, operational and/or regulatory) and develop risk mitigation strategy. Communicate risks and alternative mitigation strategies to business owners and cross functional partners (10%)
  • Lead continuous quality improvements in processes and tools resulting in increased (5%)
  • Develop and execute performance report cards, create and implement continuous improvement plans, drive business review meetings and overall quality management with maintaining optimal Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). (5%)
  • Maintain awareness of key market trends and pricing as well as the availability of new products and services within the indirect spend categories. Recommend and/or counsel others on these changes and innovations. (5%)
  • Continuous learn and develop procurement/category knowledge and methodologies, driving innovation and continuous improvement within the procurement function. (5%)

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree requested. Masters preferred.

 

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant procurement/sourcing experience. This includes the ability to manage and execute sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, acquisition development and planning for specific projects and clients. Strong knowledge of procurement management life cycle.

 

Professional certification required: CPSM, C.P.M., CPIM, or CSCP or equivalent is strongly preferred
