The Problem and Risk Manager will be responsible for problem management in IT Operations with significant interactions with the IT Outsourced Partner who are responsible for day to day operations. This position will also be responsible for Risk Management, with a specific focus on identifying and reducing risk in IT Operations. This position will have significant interactions with the Service Management Office (SMO) who are responsible for the IT processes.


50% Problem Management:

  • Perform the Process Manager role for the Problem Management process working closely with the IT Outsourced partner
  • Coordinate interfaces between Problem Management and other service management processes
  • Coordinate all problem resolution groups to ensure efficient resolutions of problems within target objectives
  • Coordinating all activities relating to major problem reviews.
  • Liaise with external parties in relation to any problems that require third party assistance and/or expertise;
  • Demonstrably drive incident volumes down through effective problem management
  • Demonstrably isolate root cause and eliminate recurring incidents from the Enterprise
  • Mature the proactive approach to mitigating potential impacts to business systems

50% Operational Risk Management:

  • Design and implement a IT Infrastructure risk management method and toolsets
  • Establish an IT Infra Risk Management Committee
  • Establish a process-driven method to ensure IT Infrastructure risks are identified, recorded, analyzed and mitigated (where possible)
  • Ensure the a risk register is developed and maintained and that features prioritized risks
  • Ensure all risks identified are communicated to the relevant stakeholders
  • Produce a risk management plan and update it regularly
  • Schedule and chair regular risk review session


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, information systems or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Must have 6 years or more experience in Problem and Risk Management.
  • Experience working with an IT Outsourced partner, in combination with a multi-vendor support model.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with an innate drive to influence others.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with the Service Management Office (SMO).
  • Professional certification required: ITIL accreditation or extensive ITIL experience, Risk management certification preferred but not required.
