Manage a team of department personnel, including attorneys, to ensure accurate and timely legal advice and lead them to continuous quality and performance improvement. Provide expert legal advice to company business units, act as the company’s legal representative and provide legal counsel to company management.

Legal Management Function: Manage a team of department personnel, including attorneys, to provide accurate and timely legal advice. Create team goals that support the business plan and maximize the opportunity to achieve those goals. Maintain a balanced work flow that also makes efficient use of resources. Responsible for selection, development and retention of successful team members. Through mentoring, coaching and the company’s performance management program, continually improve the quality of the team’s legal work product. Meet or exceed department metrics. Effectively work with other members of the department management team to continually seek out process improvements and organizational changes that improve legal service quality and responsiveness. Create opportunities to increase the subject matter scope of attorney experience and expertise without jeopardizing efficiencies.
Legal Practice Function: To provide expert legal analysis, risk assessment and advice to company business units on complex matters. Engage in problem solving that advances business objectives in a manner that is consistent with applicable state and federal law. Act as the company’s legal representative and advocate with respect to external customers (clients, litigants and governmental authorities). Provide legal counsel to company management as requested.
