Responsible for the provision, support and maintenance of audio visual equipment deployed across conference rooms and live event management. The position involves a high degree of exposure, sometimes working with senior leadership and business clients to deliver AV services and training. Requires the ability to make quick judgement calls in stressful situations.


The Audio Visual Specialist’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical conference setup and support. Ensure all sites are connected on time and receiving and transmitting good audio and video.
  • Assist with support for audio and video conferencing problems. Investigate faults and recommend further actions to rectify.
  • Provide full meeting duration support.
  • Provide PowerPoint technical and brand compliance support.
  • Provide training to end users of proper use of AV equipment and meeting setup.
  • Presentation and multi-media meeting support including making changes to content spontaneously using PowerPoint and other software programs as required.
  • Quick response to emergency and ad-hoc requests
  • Troubleshoot AV equipment when there are technical questions or problems and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure conference rooms are presentable, hazard free and all cables and equipment are secured and tidy.
  • Live event management, consultation and administration, and attendance at event production meetings.
  • Gather and interpret technical requirements for events. Manage the process for matching meetings to the appropriate spaces and obtain additional equipment and resources as needed.
  • Research and keep apprised on recent technology and innovation and make recommendations around new equipment, software and services that would enhance meeting presentations and the audience experience. Advise clients on meeting best practices and make recommendations based on available equipment and meeting space.
  • Provide regular feedback on communication issues and service improvements.
  • Assist with other in-room support activities when required. E.g. furniture and white board moves.
  • Ensure A/V equipment is properly secured after events. Make sure AV closets are kept in order and equipment is properly labeled and in good working order.


Punctuality, dependability, critical thinking and excellent problem solving skills are key to this role.

  • The AV Specialist is expected to arrive on time for the start of the scheduled meeting setup-up and remain until the required service is functioning correctly. Some meetings require full AV support for the entire meeting and the AV Specialist will provide live meeting support for the duration of the meeting.
  • Be able to make quick judgment calls when there are technical failures or difficulties to provide quick recovery with the least amount of disruption to the event.
  • Be able to quickly and accurately identify critical issues and problem solve solutions.


The Audio-Visual Specialist will also provide technical assistance and support during events as requested or as needed. It is important that the AV Specialist be familiar with the building, its equipment, policies, programs, corporate branding and the day-to-day schedule of events.

Essential function requirements:

Work collaboratively in a team environment; maintain confidentiality; prioritize, organize and coordinate work assignments; use Microsoft Office tools; communicate and interact with people at all levels in the organization, industry and community; ability to meet deadlines; and ability to understand company operations.


Job Specifications(Include education, experience, special skills and licenses or certifications required)


Education: College degree in communications or relevant technical field.

Experience: Minimum of 3 -5 years practical experience in an AV or IT communications environment preferred.

Must be able to lift 20 to 30 pounds and stand for up to two hours
