    Develop standard and non-standard written bid responses, customized bid materials, and coordinate pre-sale activities to acquire and retain larger group cases.


    Education & Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred.  Typically requires minimum 2 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education/experience. Professional certifications in FLMI or CEBS preferred.


    Knowledge & Skills:  Technical writing techniques and word processing applications; break complex ideas into simple components and create written marketing responses; express ideas clearly in both verbal and written communications; apply knowledge of marketing characteristics to the writing of bid responses which are clear and easily understood and desired by the end user; gather, analyze and synthesize responses to specific bid responses with little direct guidance or instruction.  Make general decisions and balance diverse department needs in the absence of specific directions.


    Job Complexity & Judgment:  Plans, negotiates, organizes, and influences internal and external resources to ensure prompt and accurate bid responses.  Analyzes detailed written information (bid specifications, financial reports, reference materials, etc…).  Facilitate RFP process by analyzing bid specifications, developing customized solutions through a comprehensive proposal designed to attract large group policyholders. Contribute to marketing strategy process by working with the Account Consultant and Underwriter to identify service differentiator’s specific to targeted large policyholders. Work with Project Specialists to address and resolve specific bid requirements as identified on a case by case basis. 


    Independence & Supv required:  Typically receives general instructions on routine work.  May require detailed instructions on new assignments. Work is often shared with team.


    Interaction & Influence:  Liaison with Benefits, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Actuarial, Legal, Marketing, Field, and Tax Administration departments to determine, communicate and accurately document a wide variety of procedural, legal, regulatory and system requirements in response to bid questionnaires. Develop written marketing responses to bid questions.  Work with peers to maintain an evolving library database including weekly updates and perform yearly reviews of the database.
