    As a Buyer, you will purchase capital equipment, furnishings, software, and requested service and goods as needed.  Negotiate with vendors to ensure the company receives optimal value in equipment, goods and services.  Process internal customer requisition’s in a timely manner ensuring the best overall quality and price.  Manage internal customer requirements that include; project management on purchasing related needs, coordination with field requestors, insure asset utilization, and proactively communicate order status. 


    • Analyze customer requirements, make recommendations on purchases, and perform supplier sourcings as necessary. 
    • Issue purchase orders for capital and minor equipment/furnishings, software and software licensing, and requested goods and service for home and field offices. 
    • Provide follow-up on order status and communicate to internal customers as required. 
    • Make purchases and vendor selections based upon appropriate criteria to ensure the company's best value. 
    • Process customer’s requisitions within three days and provide the appropriate follow up and feedback on the progress of their order(s).
    • Maintain acceptable levels of systematic processing throughput of purchase orders invoices through the payment cycle.
    • Negotiate with outside suppliers and ensure that expenditures are cost-effective and appropriate.
    • Negotiate contracts for purchasing of all goods and services. 
    • Negotiate and manage service contracts for home office and field office equipment, coordinate and arrange for emergency repairs. 
    • Perform supplier reviews and process competitive bids routinely.
    • Purchase and oversee delivery and service for other goods and services as required.
    • Hold the supply base accountable for on-time deliveries and insure that system transactions for receiving are performed timely. 
    • Proactively communicate back to Internal Customers status of Purchases for any backorders, delays, cancellations, etc.
    • Administrative duties include: purchase order file maintenance, mail distribution, requisition logging and supplies inventory maintenance.


    Demonstrated skills:  Assessing customer needs and purchasing appropriately.  Excellent computer skills for data input and retrieval.  Working knowledge of excel, word, and ERP systems.


    Ability to:  Plan and organize own work; participate as team leader/member on projects; interface with a broad range of company employees; express ideas clearly in written and oral communications.  Lead projects pertaining to RFPs, annual bids, and business reviews.  Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


    Working knowledge:  Accounting principles, contract law and computer inventory control.  Relational database (ERP Systems) processing, work flows, procure–to-pay cycle and its dependencies.


    Advanced knowledge:  Purchasing methods and procedures, products and marketplace conditions; current business equipment technologies.


    Education:  BA or five to seven years direct experience in lieu of a degree.


    Experience:  Five years progressively responsible purchasing experience, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
