    The Solution Engineer is responsible for engineering solutions to complex problems in support of enterprise initiatives.  This includes a combination of platform/system engineering, system integration, implementation, and technical services and support.  The Solution Engineer designs, implements/installs, maintains and administers integrated solutions across various technology platforms.


    • Provide technical leadership to enterprise initiatives that span varying current or new technologies
    • Identify, analyze, and provide solution recommendations for enterprise initiatives
    • Demonstrate detailed working knowledge of middleware, web technologies and Enterprise Content Management technologies to provide a solution that meets the requirements of the initiative while taking into account long term sustainability and supportability
    • Organize and lead working groups to establish solution options across varying current or new technologies
    • Research, troubleshoot and resolve problems related to vendor platform software, the applications that run on them and the systems that they interact with
    • Communicate regularly and effectively with team members, stakeholders and executive leadership.
    • Create documentation of the implemented solution to facilitate knowledge transfer and ongoing operational support
    • Lead or participate in architecture, implementation and design reviews


    • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
    • Experience in engineering, configuring and administering web technologies, middleware technologies and Enterprise Content Management technologies.
    • Experience with open source solutions – Apache, JBOSS, Tomcat, etc.
    • Solid understanding and proven experience with engineering and implementing integrated systems in a complex environment
    • Ability to use critical thinking in order to perform diagnostics to resolve complex systems issues.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work efforts to meet customer expectations in line with project delivery dates, system SLA’s and defined support services expectations.
    • Proven communication, documentation and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization
    • Ability to work in an outsourced or managed service environment and establish ongoing vendor relationships.

    KNOWLEDGE: Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.  This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.          


    JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.  


    SUPERVISION: Receives general instruction on day-to-day work, instructions on new assignments.


    EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience. In some companies, the requirement will be less.
