Effectively make and communicate collection notifications to customers directly for the prevention and recovery of overpayments. Perform proactive collection actions on sensitive, complex and high balance Disability, Life and Dental claim overpayments, Workers Compensation liens, third-party recovery, and subrogation.
Perform overpayment collections on sensitive, complex, high balance closed and active claims through direct contact and negotiation with debtors and/or their attorneys or representatives, to include repayment contracts and settlements. Proactively make and communicate collection notices to customers directly utilizing effective telephone techniques. Utilize proven skillful collection communications to obtain the highest recovery results.
Maximize the recovery actions of the unit by specializing in the recovery of high balances and settlements. Provide training to department personnel on appropriate cases and procedures for OPRU. Manages and reports on ATP and ASO account recoveries. Generate, create, and monitor reports on special groups to tracks results and reporting on collection activities. Updates managers on progress and monitors progressive actions. Approves contract agreements, subrogation and lien settlements by working with vendors to settle/approve settlements on special cases or under complex/extenuating circumstances.
Manages, approves and monitors department reports that exceed the authority matrix. Provides approving for less seasoned staff; provide training for the department, section and individuals. Approves the acceptability of ongoing repayment plans. Ensures the accuracy of reported recoveries by auditing, reviewing the input of system data. Monitors responses to Group Legal and third party vendors for timely and accurate information. Continually looks for more effective recovery methods, changes within the industry standards requiring action or process changes.
Education: Associate’s degree in arts & sciences, business or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Experience: Three years or more years demonstrated work experience with emphasis on high volume phone calls negotiations, positive customer service interactions, critical thinking and evaluations for same time decisions, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Professional certification required: None.
