    Responsibilities

    The Business Systems Analyst plays a vital role in supporting customers through technology. This person utilizes creative, flexible, critical thinking to analyze and resolve complex problems, processes, or support requests while driving continuous improvement. Overseeing and reporting system operational performance is key. The primary focus is partnering with customers to acquire necessary understanding of business objectives and processes and with IT to investigate new uses of existing data and systems to achieve competitive advantage and to implement technology changes to achieve short and long-term business goals. The Business Systems Analyst participates in small to very large project efforts to provide subject matter and application expertise; to gather data to inform impact analysis for business and IT; to perform validation of solutions to satisfy requirements, user needs, and business processes; to identify and documents defects; and to understand stages of testing. Duties may include responsibility for documenting business requirements; initiating maintenance requests; writing test cases; and managing end-user testing. The Business System Analyst helps team members grow their business, systems, and process knowledge and models superior customer focus, communication and collaboration.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience:  

    1. Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Business or related field.
    2. 2 to 4 years experience working in information technology in a financial services company, or working in a group insurance company with a technical background or combination of relevant education and/or experience.
    3. Basic proficiency in one or more of the following preferred: Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Principals and Practices, Lean methodology, Microsoft Excel, database querying applications such as SQL Server and TOAD, VBA, HTML, CSS.

     

    Knowledge:  Basic understanding of divisional applications and processes.

     

    Autonomy: Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

     

    Problem Solving: Performs basic assessments of routine situations, following the correct steps and using the appropriate tools to make straightforward decisions. Seeks guidance when necessary.

     

    Interpersonal Skills: Listens actively, openly shares information, and works cooperatively to build relationships. Communicates clearly and in a timely manner.
