    The Portfolio Analyst is a member of the Investment Management team primarily responsible for four functional areas:

    1. Performing issue, opportunistic and market research

    2. Conducting portfolio-level performance analytics and contributing to performance reports

    3. Developing and improving financial and operating models used in support of investment evaluation, asset and portfolio monitoring and capital markets trading (fixed income and derivatives)

    4. Contributing analytic, mathematic, programming and modeling work to ensure the alignment of investment function with the various data and information requirements of clients’ asset and liability management.

     

    Candidates will work with a cross-section of professionals, including principal investment professionals, actuaries, accountants and product development teams to optimize investment outcomes for both public and private investment strategies.

    Responsibilities

    25% Lead analysis in support of benchmarking, attribution analysis, portfolio allocations, rebalancing and asset ratings migration. Work with senior leaders in the investment management team to design, build and execute portfolio optimization framework. Disseminate market information to clients, business partners and others as needed.


    50% Lead efforts for the investment management team in the review and design improvements of credit and investment analytical tools. Work with investment staff to develop analytics for new business lines. Utilize modeling and analytical reporting to help understand portfolio performance.


    15% Improve operational efficiencies within investment team to enable portfolio optimization. Often involved in processes and developing tools to streamline analytics processes and support.


    10% Perform special analyses in response to market events, new business needs and client requests. Perform analysis and/or research related to special projects as directed, and other work as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications: 

    (Education, experience, special skills, languages or licenses/certifications required) Education: Bachelor’s degree in math, economics, or business; CFA or progress toward certification. 2+ years of relevant work experience in a principal investment business or a capital markets business. Demonstrated & strong financial modeling & analytical skills applied in an investment or capital market business environment, with significant expertise in United States capital markets.

     

    Position has preference for familiarity with Bloomberg and one of the major fixed income analytics software program (FactSet, Aladdin, Bond Edge, etc.) Requires significant expertise in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. Project management and operating model experience is a plus. Requires detail orientation and self-motivation while working in a team-oriented environment.
