Serve as The Standard’s enrollment subject matter expert at assessing unique customer needs for prospective and new, large and/or complex customers. Provide client and broker-facing strategic and tactical consultation in recommending an enrollment strategy that meets the objectives of all stakeholders. Lead and direct all activity related to the design and execution of group specific customized enrollment strategies, including enrollment technology options and best practices. Responsible for managing onsite enrollment projects, including schedule, risk identification and mitigation and issue management, which results in the achieving participation, profit/loss and customer experience objectives.
Consult with clients, brokers, enrollment firms and internal partners on The Standard’s enrollment capabilities. Serve as the primary resource for Field Sales to gather the information necessary to design and execute a customized enrollment strategy for new voluntary benefits customers. Provide training to Field Sales, brokers and enrollment firms on The Standard’s enrollment approach. Work with internal stakeholders to develop best practices for leveraging enrollment firms and enrollment technologies and integrate these best practices into group specific enrollment strategies. Participate in sales presentations for National Account and complex prospects by presenting The Standard’s enrollment capabilities.
Proactively collaborate with internal and external resources to design and determine content for enrollment meetings to meet customer needs and maximize employee participation. Develop and maintain relationships with enrollment firms within assigned territory. Work with internal resources to secure benefit counselors to ensure delivery of all aspects of the enrollment and education process for employees of our new voluntary benefits customers based on customer needs, availability, location, skill set, experience, state licensing requirements and other pertinent factors.
Recuit, hire and maintain staff of external benefit counselors. Train benefit counselors to maximize participation in voluntary benefits plans by motivating enrollment through persuasive product value stories. Train benefit counselors on The Standard’s products and services, employer dynamics, enrollment needs, communication plans and products to be offered. Provide informal leadership, training and best practice guidance to team members on how to design and execute customized enrollment strategies.
Track individual success of enrollment events by gathering and evaluating enrollment meeting results. Accountable for meeting revenue and cost objectives for onsite enrollment events; specifically for voluntary benefits. Communicate and reinforce expense management guidelines around onsite travel and appropriate event and enrollment expenses. Monitor expense reports, review post-event reports and other reporting as required. Provide onsite overflow enrollment support as needed.
Education: Four year college or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of employee benefits enrollment experience; specifically in voluntary benefits enrollment, collaborating with enrollment firms and brokers, providing pre-sales support to sales staff, demonstrated expertise in enrollment technology including integration methods for employee, coverage and plan information.
Skills: Detail oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently within a team concept, proficiency in Excel, Salesforce and SharePoint.
In-person presentation experience required. Bilingual and insurance sales experience is a plus.
License required: Life and Disability license in states within assigned territory.
Up to 20-30% travel may be required during peak sales and enrollment periods.
