    Treasury Analyst IPerform corporate tax planning, compliance and accounting functions to assure the Company meets its legal minimum tax liability while complying with all Federal, state and local taxing authorities.  Research and recommend alternative methods for processing company tax information to streamline operations and increase efficiencies.

    Responsibilities

    Prepare federal life insurance and “failed life” insurance tax returns based on developed expertise of related income tax law and regulations, general instructions from Sr. Analyst and prior year workpapers. Preparation includes detailed analysis of statutory financial statements and relevant accounts and reserves. Peer review of estimated tax payments, property, sales and use tax and premium tax returns. 

     

    Prepare federal and state income tax provisions based on application of GAAP or SAP (or both). Prepare insurance company income tax provisions based on general instructions and prior accrual workpapers. Review premium, sales and use tax accruals.

     

    Maintain tax balance sheets and prepare analysis which supports deferred tax balances for GAAP purposes and admitted and non-admitted balances for statutory purposes.

     

    Prepare responses to audit requests for the IRS, state tax jurisdiction or regulatory financial examiners (validate % time).

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

     

    Experience: 4 to 8 years progressively responsible experience in accounting and tax, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.

     

    Professional certification required: CPA preferred.
