    Serve as a catalyst for a continuous improvement culture using Lean IT (Lean and Agile) philosophies and practices to achieve IT organizational objectives.

    Responsibilities

    Lean IT Transformation (50%)

    • Leads Lean IT transformation activities across all IT departments and teams (and associated business departments/partners, as necessary).
    • Uses coaching techniques and tools to assist team members in understanding the alignment between the components, practices and principles of Lean IT (Lean and Agile).
    • Builds Lean IT leadership/coaching capabilities in IT leaders (Sr. Director and below)
    • Teaches, coaches, and models Lean PDCA problem solving culture across IT (and associated business departments/partners as necessary). This includes leveraging business and IT acumen for RCA and coaching on how to identify, execute, measure, evaluate, and potentially implement countermeasures.
    • Teaches, coaches, and models Agile frameworks and principles across IT (Scrum, Kanban, XP, TDD, etc.).
    • Manages overall lifecycle of Lean IT transformation initiatives and process improvement classes/workshops (Kaizen, PDVSM, A3, TWI, LSW, etc.)
    • Partners with leaders (Sr. Director and below) to achieve business objectives thru structured problem solving.
    • As necessary (with support from Lean CoE) creates Lean IT specific organizational training materials for use in workshops and training classes.
    • Builds sustainability into IT teams by training change-agents (leadership and team leaders) in Lean IT coaching methods using the second coaching model of the LCoE.
    • Manages team sustainability assessments (content and team calibration) to uncover opportunities for teams to focus their continuous improvement efforts.

     

    Continuous Improvement (50%)

    • As an internal Lean IT Consultant, partner closely with leaders and teams to more effectively enable IT and the LOB’s learn and model Lean and Agile behaviors, activities, and a Lean mindset.
    • Seeks and outlines process improvements in Lean IT activities and methods to match specific organization needs identified by Leadership.
    • Validates continuous improvement of LMS components (metrics & targets, LSW, coaching, assessments, standard work, etc.)
    • Provides visibility/status of overall Lean IT team continuous improvement efforts and coaching. Examples: Product Delivery VSM efforts, Cross functional VSM efforts, Large PST project re-engineering efforts.
    • Provides process and mindset leadership on re-engineering efforts in advance of large PST projects to ensure we are building toward an overall improved process and customer experience.
    • Provides regular coaching of VSM (Sr. Directors) and/or leaders of assigned business areas in Lean and Agile practices and behaviors.
    • Facilitates change management – How leaders lead, and teams work see / know / act
    • Stays up to date in Lean and Agile practices, tools, principles and techniques, and freely shares learnings across the organization.
    • Cultivates communities of practice around Lean and Agile we members collaborate, share and prompt, knowledge, techniques, experiments, and a culture of innovation.
    • Identifies standard work; socializing and refining within Lean and Agile communities of practice.
    • Partners with the Lean CoE to drive continued alignment and share best practices.

     

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Economics or Business related field. Agile and Scrum certification is desirable.

    Comprehensive knowledge of Lean principles, practices and tools and/or Agile principles, practices and tools.

    Demonstrated coaching individuals on Lean and/or Agile practices and behaviors.

    Experience6-8 years of progressively complex experience in professional process improvement, including 3+ years as a ScrumMaster, Agile Coach or Lean Coach.

    For Lean:  Specifically need experience with Lean tools such as huddles, kaizen event facilitation, value stream mapping, standard work, process mapping etc. 

    For Agile:  Specifically need experience coaching teams in Agile methodologies such as daily stand ups, retrospectives, sprint reviews and sprint planning.  Demonstrated practice of common Agile frameworks (Scrum and Kanban) and the ability to coach and guide key roles like ScrumMaster and Product Owner.

     

    Strong experience in the following preferred:

    • Group/team facilitation and presentation skills from 4-60 people.
    • Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of management
    • Ability to influence at the process owner level and value stream owner level of the organization.
    • Drive change and implement change/process improvements.

     

    Professional certification required: None.
